A few weeks ago, I got some huge pink foam flowers on the online auction. I thought I’d use them as decorations on the tables in my craft fair booth.
Instead, I cut them up. I already showed you one of the pieces I made, so I thought I’d show you two more I’m working on.
Remember that brooch of the woman in the mermaid dress? I have been trying to figure out what to do with it. Just her on canvas didn’t highlight all her sparkles.
Suddenly, I got the idea to put her in the center of a flower! I made the flower with some of those pink petals and then glued in a turquoise colored middle.
Now, she is the star of the show. The piece isn’t quite finished yet. I plan to add more jewelry to the canvas.

Up next, a mermaid. I’ve been wanting to draw a mermaid and found some good instructions. After drawing it in pencil, I got an idea to cut some of those pink foam petals into mermaid shapes.

She’s definitely unique! Who buys mermaid stuff? I have no idea, haha. I decided to make it anyway!
Normally by now, I’d be in a big panic, trying to get as much art done for the show that I can. But, Im not doing that this time.
I think it has to do with suddenly losing my mom 6 months ago. Sure, I could completely exhaust myself like I use to, trying to have all the ‘perfect’ craft fair art, or I could just bring what I have.
What I’ve learned recently, is that what I have is more than enough, art and otherwise.
Hope you have a great day.

Both cute!! And yes, I’m doing the same…taking what I already to have my next 2 shows, a healthy sane decision I agree.

Rushing around trying to create at the last minute is exhausting! I’ve done that several times. Thanks for commenting. I’m just now seeing it!!

When I was a kid, I was all about mermaids. I read every book about mermaids that I could find and I wanted to be the Chicken of the Sea mermaid. Obviously, that last bit didn’t work out for me. I can’t even swim, LOL.

Oh my gosh, that made me laugh!! That’s the sweetest thing ever. I forgot about the Chicken of the Sea mermaid! I love that you loved mermaids. I love them, too, even grown up.

I’m not the mermaid fanatic that I was when I was younger, but I still have a soft spot for them.🧜♀️😊

Hi. I agree. Always want to swim as elegantly as a mermaid.

Both of those pieces turned out great! You drew the mermaid perfectly. You made good use of those rose petals. Good luck with the craft fair. And I like your attitude that what you have is more than enough – “art and otherwise.”

Wow, thank you. I’ve got to finish the mermaid’s head and arms. Thank you for noticing ‘art and otherwise.’ Thank you- got to my dad’s this evening. Will finish craft show things up when I get home Wednesday.

Lots of people buy mermaid stuff. Those are great!
Your attitude is right. You’ll have the right things there. And if not, you’ll have fun and be unstressed.
